1-20-2013?
So I was driving home from work last night, enjoying the flurries coming down - after all, I do live in Georgia where it pretty much never snows. I happened to get behind a particular SUV on the way, and noticed that they had a couple of bumper stickers on the back of their vehicle. One of them read something along the lines of "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain/Palin", and the other one read "1-20-2013". I honestly was baffled by this; I mean how can you honestly judge someone who isn't even the President yet?
Now I should add a disclaimer here that I don't expect everyone to like Obama, nor do I expect everyone to agree with him. After all, this is politics we're talking about here - everyone has a different opinion on the "right" way to do things, and all of our opinions are valid to some degree. I also don't claim that this sort of judgment is specific to one party - I'm sure if I lived in New York in January 2001, I would have seen something very similar regarding Bush and Gore.
However, I do think that it makes sense to at least give the guy a chance. Sure, he will no doubt do some things that some (or perhaps many) don't agree with, just like he will no doubt do some things that I don't agree with either. But if he actually holds up his campaign pledge to fight partisanship, at least he will take into account those views that he doesn't necessarily agree with, and he may very well do some things that the other party can actually support. At the very least, he deserves to be given a chance, instead of people assuming the next 4 years will be a disaster and the only way we can fix it is to vote for a Republican.
Anyway, congratulations President Obama!

Limbaugh? Seriously?!!!
Limbaugh: Obama is 'frightened of me'
Okay, seriously?!!! Does Limbaugh really think the most powerful man in the world is frightened of some talking head? Somebody has some serious delusions of how important they really are. I mean quite honestly, I doubt Obama could care less about what Limbaugh has to say. Hey Limbaugh, maybe it's time to wake up and realize that not everyone gets what they want. Democrats want one extreme, Republicans want another, and what actually will happen will be somewhere in the middle - as it should be! That's the whole point of compromise and working together so that everyone's views and opinions is taken into regard, and the final result encompasses more than just some extremist point of view. Now granted the way Republicans have run government over the past decade has been the complete opposite of working with the opposition, and while I sincerely hope the Democrats don't fall into that same trap, I am admittedly skeptical that they will fare no better. But it really baffles me how someone can be so confident in their opinion that they're willing to try to push that opinion as "the right answer". Hey Limbaugh, you're not God!
I do have to give it to him though, because he does provide an endless source of amusement for some of us. :)
